Biography

Tami is a clinical instructor in the UW Law & Entrepreneurship Clinic where shei enjoys teaching student attorneys about the tax aspects of transactional law including: entity formations and conversions, tax-exemption for charitable organizations, sales and use tax and compensation arrangements. In her role at the Clinic Tami partners with other service provider organizations in the Wisconsin entrepreneurial ecosystem to provide legal education and advice to the entrepreneurs they serve.

Tami received her J.D. from the University of Wisconsin Law School and M.P.A. from the LaFollette Institute of Public Affairs. Tami practiced in the tax groups of firms in Chicago and Madison where she gained experience in the taxation of: partnerships, mergers and acquisitions, real estate transactions and financial instruments.

Activities

  • Jeff Glazer, Tami Patel and Charles von Simson presented “In Your Corner: Starting and Running Your Hustle,” in August 2020, in partnership with Urban Triage, Freedom, Inc., and our Law & Entrepreneurship Clinic. UW Law student Miranda Salazar helped coordinate the event, which was geared toward supporting Black entrepreneurship and businesses.
