Biography
Kate Finley is a Clinical Assistant Professor with the Legal Assistance to Incarcerated People (LAIP) Project at the University of Wisconsin Law School's Remington Center. Prior to joining the Law School, Finley was a clinical fellow for the Criminal & Youth Justice and Child Advocacy clinics at Rutgers Law School-Newark.
A 2009 graduate of Stanford Law School, Professor Finley worked for the International Criminal Court's Chambers (Trial Divison) in The Hague until 2014. She is also a former public defender who represented clients in Baltimore and Montgomery County, Maryland. Finley additionally worked as a program associate at the Vera Institute of Justice, where she focused on postsecondary prison education and expanding access to public housing for formerly incarcerated people.
