Biography

Jason Smith has been advising and supporting students in the Law School’s Graduate Programs Office since 2011, first as a Graduate Programs Coordinator, and currently, as the Assistant Dean for Graduate Programs. Prior to joining the Law School, Jason held positions in operations at Wisconsin Manufacturers & Commerce and the University of Wisconsin Foundation, as well as a position in the Office of Policy Analysis and Research at the University of Wisconsin System Administration.

Acting as the primary point of contact for students in our course-based LL.M. program, Jason oversees Admissions and Enrollment, Advising, and the Student Support functions of the Graduate Programs Office. In addition, he assists and supports visiting scholars to the East Asia Legal Studies Center and Global Legal Studies Center.

Jason arrived at UW-Madison as an undergraduate student in 1996 where he went on to earn a B.A. in Economics. During his time at the University of Wisconsin Law School, Jason has had the opportunity to travel internationally, and work with students and scholars from over 40 different countries. For those who are interested in joining our community, Jason hopes to make the transition to life in Madison as smooth as possible, and help our students and scholars achieve their goals.
