Biography

Jonathan Scharrer is the Director of the Restorative Justice Project at the University of Wisconsin Law School's Frank J. Remington Center. He has extensive experience as a facilitator of victim-offender dialogues in sensitive and violent crimes and as a trainer in a variety of restorative justice practices. Jonathan is active in examining criminal justice policy--with a focus on victim-empowerment and addressing racial disparities in the criminal justice system--and has helped design and implement multiple restorative justice diversion programs and restorative responses to crime. Additionally, Jonathan currently serves as a member of the advisory council for the National Association of Community and Restorative Justice.

  • Jonathan Scharrer presented “Beyond Burnout: Resiliency, Self-Care, Moral Injury & Vicarious Trauma” during a Zoom webinar with the University of Denver College of Law on March 23, 2021. 

  • Jonathan Scharrer presented the keynote at the first annual Restorative Justice Summit, organized by UW's Community Youth Development program. His presentation was titled “Making Youth Courts More Restorative.”

  • Jonathan Scharrer presented “Restorative Justice Applications in the Criminal Justice System” in February 2020, as part of UW-Madison’s Badger Talks series.
