Are you beginning a project involving comparative and/or historical constitutional research? HeinOnline's World Constitutions Illustrated (WCI) is a great place to start. WCI makes available the current constitution for every country in its original language, along with an English translation. It also includes historical constitutions and constitutional histories for many countries.

Constitutional documents are listed in reverse chronological order with the goal of creating a historical timeline, as you can see in this excerpt from the Table of Contents from Germany:

Each country also includes lists and links to various commentaries, articles, and bibliographies, and an option for digging deeper into periodical literature by linking to HeinOnline's Law Journal Library for more articles related to the constitutional law of your chosen jurisdiction.

WCI is searchable, and it is possible to do a comparative constitutional search across jurisdictions
for one or more terms or concepts. For more help in using HeinOnline's Word Constitutions Illustrated, contact Sunil Rao, Foreign and International Law Librarian.
